The month is here! It’s June so we are that much closer to Maritime DevCon! Okay, okay, calm down. Stay focused. Speakers. Right, let’s meet another one. Meet Elliot Layne.
Elliot grew up in Ottawa, ON. He moved to Halifax in 2013 and graduated from Dalhousie University in 2017, with a BSc. majoring in Computer Science, and an honours project on hybridization networks. Elliot has spent the past year working on the data science team at Eigen Innovations, in Fredericton, NB.
So Elliot, if you were a programming language or technology, which one would you be and why?
Python, because I am easy to get along with.
What do you like best about Maritime DevCon?
Meeting other people with shared interests.
Why do you feel your session, Integration of ML Solutions in Industrial Manufacturing, will bring value to Maritime DevCon attendees?
It will help to shed light on the “next steps” for those who are developing theoretical machine learning skills, how to overcome barriers that will separate the development of their work from its effective implementation.
What is the key take away attendees will get from your session?
There are significant challenges with developing autonomous systems that go beyond the initial development of an ML model or solution.
Thank you in advance for joining us for Maritime DevCon 2018 Elliot!
