Our next speaker for Maritime DevCon 2017 is Colin Casey, a UI Tech Lead for Salesforce Marketing Cloud. He specializes in JavaScript but enjoys tinkering with all sorts of programming languages. He is a former co-founder and organizer of the Saint John developer group and loves to discuss code and movies.

Colin, if you were a programming language or technology, which one would you be and why?

Smalltalk. Because I too am able to examine, introspect and modify my behavior at runtime.

What do you like best about Maritime DevCon?

That it exists.

Why do you feel your session, Observe and Report, would bring value to Maritime DevCon attendees?

I don’t think many developers get much exposure to reactive programming concepts even though it seems like a natural and intuitive way to think about programs. Anything can be a stream.

What is the key take away attendees will get from your session Observe and Report?

How to think about composing asynchronous and event-based programs from observable data streams.

Thanks for joining us to present Colin!
